Who Is Jesus?

Life's Most Important Moment

Besides being born, the next most important moment in a person’s life is the one when they discover why they were born. Many people spend their lives trying to discover how to be significant, "What makes me important in this big wide world?”  We desperately try to seek out the answer, but often it leads to further desperation, like the countless hours spent trying to further our careers, only to walk into an empty home.  Trying to surround our self with relationships that are only superficial, leave us lonely.  Filling our life with the best money can buy, yet nothing can fill the void we feel.  The answer to our searching is found in Jesus.

In John 10:10 the Bible tells us, "The enemy has come to steal, kill, and destroy. But Jesus has come to give us life and life more abundantly."  The life that you are now living can only end up in one of two places: life or death, Heaven or Hell.  We have a choice to make.

In the Book of Acts, chapter 10:34-43, in the New Testament, Peter, an apostle of Jesus, tells a Roman named Cornelius, about this choice:

"I now realize how true it is that God does not show favouritism but accepts men from every nation who fear him and do what is right. You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, telling the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all. You know what has happened throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached - how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him. We are witnesses of everything he did in the country of the Jews and in

Jerusalem. They killed him by hanging him on a tree, but God raised him from the dead on the third day and caused him to be seen. He was not seen by all the people, but by witnesses whom God had already chosen-by us who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead. All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name." (NIV)

The peace that Peter talks about, the peace that God wants to give us is part of the abundant life He desires for us. It is too easy to allow our lives to be filled with anger and hopelessness.  There are too many people who have hurt us and who we have hurt to pretend that everything is all right.  Jesus wants to help us do something about it.  He wants us to ask His forgiveness and to allow His peace to fill our lives.

The apostle Paul wrote in Romans 6:23: "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."  The choice we make will last for eternity, meaning in this life and the next.  Either we dwell in sin and suffer death and eternal separation from God, or we receive Christ and rejoice for eternity.  Paul also taught how simple it is to be saved from sins penalty: "If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord', and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead,

you will be saved." Romans 10:9, 10.

We all know we have sinned.  In spite of the world's moral decay, there is still somewhat of a moral code that exists and we have all sinned against that standard in some way.  Our conscience is a gift from God.  Our conscience serves to compel us to search for meaning to our lives. That is why we feel bad when we have done wrong.  God made us that way.  He desires to give us life, and offers us a choice today to have a relationship with Him.

The penalty for sin is death. That is why all people die. But 2,000 years ago, Jesus Christ, God's Holy Son, became a man. He lived without sin.  Then He was killed. He gave His life willingly because He knew we could never pay the debt of sin, it cost too much and none of us were sinless.  He paid the penalty for sin without committing the crime. So death had no power over Him and after three days, God raised Him from the dead.

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him, will not perish, but have eternal life." John 3:16.  God loved you enough to give His Son.  How wonderful is that truth.  God loved you enough to give up what He loved the most to make a way out of sin into life.

Now, you know that He is alive and loves you! And now He offers forgiveness of sin and the gift of everlasting life to everyone who will ask Him.

Are you ready to make a choice? All you need to do is ask Him, right where you are, to forgive you of your sins and tell Him that you believe He is God and that He died for you and that you would like to have a relationship with Him.  Ask Him to help change your heart.  Here is a prayer you can pray.  If prayed with sincerity it will change your destiny forever!

"God, I know I have sinned, please forgive me. I believe in my heart that Jesus is Lord and confess with my mouth that God sent His Son, Jesus, to die in order to pay my debt of sin.  Please come into my life and show me how to live the rest of my life for you.  Please use me and guide me.  And thank you for filling the void in my life.  I ask it in Jesus' name, Amen."

If you have prayed this prayer and meant it, know this, that according to the Bible you are saved! Saved from eternal punishment and now you are an heir of Christ.  You have been adopted into His family and He loves you and cherishes you.  He will always be with you and wants to guide you.  Talk to Him daily, the Bible calls this prayer. Read your Bible at every opportunity that you get.  If you don't have a Bible allow us the privilege of supplying you with a free Bible.  All you need to do is ask.
